"I have now received the updated Title Sheet from Registers of Scotland which shows you as the Registered proprietor of Elphinstone Tower and attach a copy herewith. This now brings matters to a close," the solicitor wrote.
And so, here we are.
The Title itself is a sort of sedimentary document, containing clauses superseding other clauses, references to illustrious former owners, and more modern attempts at historic preservation.
The titled land consists of a rather irregularly shaped polygon containing the tower itself, part of the Church Wood, and the graveyard. (A graveyard so nice they labeled it twice, or perhaps it's two graveyards.) In all, it's just under an acre in size.
For my own amusement I will attempt to parse the Title piece by piece in this blog, so, you know, strap in for the next installment.
